Last lesson, we used this conte de fées(fairy story) to practise using the perfect and imperfect tenses. Here is some of the vocabulary we learnt along the way:
Il était une fois = Once upon a time
Petit Capuchon Rouge
un capuchon = hood, cowl
un loup
un pneu crevé (flat tyre or puncture)
(This was a modern version of Red Riding Hood, in case you're wondering)
je suis crevé = I'm knackered
It has the same slang quality as in English, so you wouldn't say it in polite or formal gatherings, but it's fine amongst friends.
Il est crevé!
un abri = shed , shelter
il court / il s'échappe
s'échapper = to escape (reg ER, reflexive)
courir = to run (irreg)
courir = to run (irreg)
Présent
je cours nous courons
tu cours vous courez
Il } ils } courent
elle } court elles }
Passé Composé
J'ai couru
Au secours! = Help!
Le bûcheron coupe du bois avec sa hache
un bûcheron = woodcutter, woodsman, lumberjack
couper = to cut (reg ER)
le bois = wood
la hache = axe
Elle est dehors
Il est dedans
dehors = outside
dedans = inside
With many thanks to the Northumberland Grid for Learning and their superb Contes de Fées.
